THI is now accepting applications for the 2008-09 Peer Educators!
To
qualify to become a THI Peer Educator, you should:
- Be between the ages of 14-18 and living in NYC
- Be committed to helping other teens get the health services and information they need
- Be willing and open to discuss controversial issues like abortion, contraception and HIV/AIDS
with your peers in a sensitive and respectful manner
- Be able to attend a meeting in lower Manhattan from 4 to 6 every Monday from October to early June
- Be interested in current events and how they impact young people
What
will I get out of being a THI Peer Educator?

Leadership and community organizing skills
- Knowledge about the law and how it applies
to young people
- Opportunities to plan and participate in workshops
and other educational or advocacy projects
- Stipend ($7.50 - $9.50/hour) or community service credit for participation
- Reimbursement for transportation
- New friendships with other peer educators
- Valuable activist experience!
Applications for the 2008 - 2009 school year are due by Friday, September 19, and interviews will be the next week! Applications sent in early are okay and encouraged.
